San Gimignano is a picturesque town tucked away in the Tuscan hills. San Gimignano was founded in the 3rd Century BCE by the Etruscan people, and is named after bishop Saint Geminianus who defended the city from the Huns. During the Medieval period San Gimignano served as a stop on the Pilgrimage trail. In more recent times San Gimignano has a appeared in the video game "Assassins Creed II" and in the movie "New Moon".
